- W2327186459 abstract "Identifying current phreatic lines in earth dams may be a starting point for the safety analysis of critical earth dams. Substantially different phreatic lines from the expected ones at the design stage may indicate construction quality issues or potential piping problems. Typically piezometers are used to estimate the phreatic lines, however, piezometer data are point data not continuous data, and it is not very easy to accurately predict the phreatic lines in a dam body. Innovative utilization of temperature sensor equipment holds great practical promise for the use of heat as a tracer to estimate the existing phreatic line and permeability in Geotechnical structures, in the broader sense, the use of heat to quantitatively characterize the extent and properties of an earthen dam, which may raise the status of analyzing critical Geotechnical structures like dams to another level. This research utilized a seepage-heat coupled analysis to estimate phreatic lines from the measured underground temperature profile. In addition, the permeability of dam body was estimated using multiple temperature measurement data." @default.
