- W2327711170 abstract "was asked by Dr. Crasilneck to review a videotape regression of Dora, a woman charged with first degree murder of her husband. Prior to this viewing, asked Dr. Crasilneck four questions and got the following responses. (1) Q: How did you get into this case? A: By request of the attorney nine months after the fact. (2) Q: was your role? What was expected of you? A: retrieve data. To explore and to understand why certain bruises were on her neck and how she got hoarseness and to fill in a time gap. (3) Q: information was given to you before you saw this patient? A: Nothing. The attorney didn't tell me anything. really didn't want to know. Q: Why didn't you want to know? A: So that would not have any biases or prejudgment. (4) Q: was your expectancy, i.e., what did you expect to find? A: 1 didn't think it would work. She was drinking. never did one before that long after the incident. The above questions are used to determine credibility of the therapist who uses hypnotic regression for criminal investigation. The same type of questions are often used by a sophisticated attorney who crossexamines the expert. The opposing counsel is at a disadvantage since he cannot cross-examine the witness or defendant in this case. He may also ask whether or not the expert can prove that the patient is actually in hypnosis or if the patient is simulating hypnosis. He will definitely question our opinion about the veracity of the patient's statements made while in a hypnotic state." @default.
