- W2328768199 abstract "Mt. Chokai is a volcano 2230m high, which occupies the southern part of Akita Prefecture as well as the northern part of Yamagata Prefecture. The author has studied the area covered with volcanic ejecta around this volcano. The main results are as follows:1. The material ejected from the Chokai Volcano consists of lava, agglomeratic rock, various volcanic mudflow and volcanic ash.2. Around the Chokai Volcano, the mudflows are distributed widely on the northern foot, while the lava flows are mainly on the other side.3. On the southern and eastern feet lava flow was more fluid than that on the western foot.4. The mudflow of northwestern part is later that of western part, and the later mudflow formed the mudflow-delta in the Kisakata low land, and the earlier mudlow formed the upland of Yurigahara.5. Higashi-Yurigahara and Nishi-Yurigahara are formed of the same mudflow and Minami-Yurigahara is formed of two mudflows.6. The author has classified volcanic mudflows of the Chokai Volcano into three. Those are Kisakata, Minami-Yurigahara and Nishi-Yurigahara and Nishi-Yurigahara mudflows, named after the typical localities where they are distributed.7. The higher terrace and middle terrace in the northern foot of this volcano are covered with a volcanic ash layer, named Chokai Older Loam. But all terraces, higher, middle and lower, are covered with a volcanic ash layer, named Chokai New Loam.8. The geological and geomorphological history of the Chokai Volcano and its vicinity is shown in Fig. 4." @default.
