- W2330425182 abstract "INFECTIOUS turkey sinusitis (ITS) has established itself as a disease of major importance to the turkey industry. Considerable attention has been focused on the problem of eradication and control of this disease. Argyrol and silver nitrate injected directly into the infected sinus accompanied by surgical drainage was used quite extensively in the past to relieve this condition2'4,17',l824 although there was no beneficial effect on lower respiratory involvement. Several investigators reported that streptomycin at a level of 100 to 200 mg per 'sinus had been used successfully in the treatment of ITS. 1,3,7,11, 13,16,,21, Reports are becoming more numerous on the effect of other antibiotics such as oxytetracycline, chlortetracycline and erythromycin in an effort to control this condition.8,10,12,25,26 Pleuropneumonia-like organisms (PPLO) have been associated with ITS as well as chrohic respiratory disease CRD, of chickens.9'14,15l The present report describes the use of erythromycin in the treatment of a naturally occurring outbreak of ITS." @default.
