- W2330654896 abstract "The previous study of the author by means of an electron-microscope dealt merely with the apparent textures. In this paper he reports the results of an X-ray study to elucidate the surface structure of slaking-proof dolomite clinker and its slaked powder. Results obtained in this study are summerized as follows:(1) From the intensity of X-ray powder patterns, it is concluded that the surface layer of the slaking-proof dolomite clinker is rich in magnesia and poor in lime, and that by specimens from which this surface layer is abrased off or by specimens prepared from cut-section of the clinker, the amount of magnesia decreases while that of lime increases.(2) As there are no other diffracted lines than that of magnesia and lime in X-ray powder patterns, the step crystallization observed by the electron-microscope is supposed to be mainly constructed of magnesia.(3) From the previous observation by electron-microscop that the step crystallization seems to set in at the boundary between grains and matrix, and to grow gradually covering the burnt dolomite grains, it can be concluded that the added substances react a selective reaction with lime component of dolomite to from matrix on firing and that unreacted magnesia recrystallizes step by step in matrix under the minerallizing action of surrounding matrix.(4) Powdered clinker does not slake completly and a powdered sample coarser than Tyler #65 mesh shows to be the mixture of unchanged magnesia and lime." @default.
