- W2330797989 abstract "To determine whether time of blastomere realignment (tBR) can be used as an early embryo selection parameter. Blastomere realignment (BR) is a series of blastomere movements at the 2-cell stage observed immediately after the first cleavage and before an embryo enters the quiescent state. Retrospective analysis. The tBR and morphokinetics variables, time intervals from insemination or ICSI to subsequent cleavage stages (2-cell to blastocyst-BL), were collected using the EmbryoScope® time-lapse and analyzed in two studies. Study 1: 1388 embryos classified as good quality (either transferred on day 3/5, or cryopreserved BL) were compared to 887 poor quality embryos (discarded). Study 2: 99 implanted versus 162 non-implanted embryos. Study 1: The tBR in good quality embryos is significantly shorter than in poor quality embryos (4.32±2.02 vs. 4.52±2.29 hours; p=0.0210). All morphokinetics variables of consecutive stages (from 2-cell to BL) of good-quality embryos were significantly shorter than the corresponding intervals observed in poor-quality embryos (p<0.001). A positive correlation between tBR and tM (time to morula) (r=0.15543; p=0.0130) were observed in good quality embryos and no correlation was found in poor quality embryos. Study 2: No differences were found between implanted and non-implanted embryos for tBR. However, tBR is positively correlated with tM (r= 0.34; p=0.03) in the implanted group but no correlation has been found in non-implanted embryos. This is the first report demonstrating the importance of tBR as a marker of embryo quality.
