- W2332400057 abstract "Landslides occurring in many regions of Turkey, especially in East Black Sea Region, are among the most important natural events leading to losses of life and property after earthquakes. In order to avoid such losses, the structure, motion mechanism and hazards of landslides should be established. A geological survey, geophysical measurements and laboratory experiments are required in order to calculate the landslide stability through classical calculation methods. Artificial neural networks (ANN) based on simplified modeling of biological neural cells of the human brain is an artificial intelligence technique widely used in the modeling of complex systems. This technique has been successfully applied in many engineering calculations recently. The landslide stability coefficient can be calculated with artificial neural networks trained by various algorithms. The stability of the one hundred and forty eight landslides whose slope parameters were already known was calculated with both the ANN method and traditional methods. Then the results of each method were compared. Afterwards, the effect of the seismic velocity information was added to the current data of the slope at the training stage of the ANN method to find the stability value. The results of the stability values were discussed and these showed that the seismic velocity did not change the stability values. Besides this, the structure of Araklı-Yiğitözü (Trabzon-Turkey) active landslide was established via geological and geophysical methods. Then stability analyses were carried out by using traditional methods and the ANN method and finally, the results were compared. During the calculation stage of the stability with the ANN method, seismic velocities were used instead of some parameters obtained from the laboratory experiments. The results obtained from the ANN method are consistent with the stability results obtained through classical method." @default.
