- W2334486142 abstract "The parachute technique is a solution for the operative challenge of the repair of displaced surgical neck fractures of the proximal humerus in osteopenic bone. Poor outcomes are common because of unsatisfactory fixation techniques coupled with poor bone quality, comminution, and muscular deforming forces inherent to these fractures. With the parachute technique, Dacron tapes, which are well tolerated by osteopenic bone, are used to create a stable construct by neutralizing the deforming forces. The use of Dacron tapes prevents the potential complications described with regard to other hardware fixation methods in the proximal humerus. This technique results in rapid fracture healing and also provides sufficient stability to allow early range-of-motion exercises." @default.
