- W2335746009 abstract "An unstructured-grid, finite-volume, 3D primitive equation coastal circulation model, FVCOM, was first applied to a tsunami propagation and inundation problem after small modification on the treatment of initial conditions. The model was validated through an application to 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, focusing on inundation in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. The computed results are consistent with measured tidal gauge data and existing numerical results using other models. Performance for reproducing inundation areas is enhanced after resolving roads and structures. Considering the recent progress in high resolution GIS data and computer resources, application of FVCOM will become a useful tool to consider the local disaster prevention in a straightforward and easier manner." @default.
