- W2336694821 abstract "There are significant discrepancies in the literature due to differences in methodology for identifying determinants of financial crises. This has led to an increase in uncertainty concerning, on the one hand, the choice of the model and, on the other hand, the choice of indicators. The purpose of this paper is to identify, from a wide range of financial, macroeconomic, external and institutional indicators, proposed by the recent literature, the determinants of systemic banking crises in countries of Central and Eastern Europe mainly taking into account model uncertainty using Bayesian model averaging (BMA).The empirical results indicate that banking crises in countries of Central and Eastern Europe took place during phases of economic growth, characterized by excessive growth of the domestic credit (GDP percent), a high growth liquidity reserve to total bank assets ratio, a large flow of foreign direct investments, a private sector credit boom and an increase in the real interest rates.
