• W2336703787 abstract "In the field of organizational studies, symbolism and organizational culture present themselves as sources capable of explaining managerial problems, rendering the irrational and the subjective explainable and manageable. This paper portrays the organizational symbolism inherent to the meanings of professional uniforms and company’s logo, which serve as elements for the analysis of intra and interorganizational relationships. Investigation into two companies in the steelworks sector found that object-symbols carry representative meanings for different functional spheres, both regarding the construction of an identity for each organization and the merger process of companies. This study reveals how the impact of the visible artifacts affect, in different ways, the communities surrounding the units studied. The research contributes to enrich discussions on the role symbols play in the construction of organizational practice and theory, allowing the interpretation of organizational symbolism to be extended to the merger processes." @default.
