- W2340983744 abstract "In order to propose perforated PTFE bars as a new resource, a descriptive, longitudinal and prospective study was carried out, in which the inclusion criterion was that patients had a diagnosis of unilateral vocal cord paralysis, and foniatric therapy for at least six months (independent variable: patients with perforated PTFE bars implant and unilateral vocal cord paralysis; dependent variable: patientsphonetic evaluation; inter-current variables: name, age, sex, occupation, injury cause, and diagnosis). Pre- and post-operating stroboscopic control extended to 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 months; the Helsinki agreements were applied from an ethical point of view. A statistical analysis of repeated variance measures was carried out to evaluate changes that occur in the frequency of the affected vocal cord, using Students t test for dependent samples, and the test of Wilcoxon. The results and discussion of the latter raise the following conclusions: medialization with the use of perforated PTFE bars is satisfactory from its application, optim ization takes place at nine months; loco-regional anaesthesia offers optimal results; and finally, the application of perforated PTFE b ars" @default.
