In the end, we must engage in an honest discussion of the political issues involved - issues that do not lend themselves to precise mathematical testing. These political issues involve questions such as, What kind of society do we want to live in? In defining a socially optimal corporate governance system, we should talk about the quality of life, rather than just about gross national product and shareholder value. If corporate governance systems affect disparities in the wealth of citizens, then this relationship bears political scrutiny and debate. However, in addition to debate, we do need more research, especially research that considers the normative or political aspects of the workers' role in corporate governance, both in the United States and abroad." @default.
