- W2345541723 abstract "Abstract BaNb2O6: Eu3+ phosphors have been synthesized by solid state reaction method using various fluxes (NH4Cl, LiCl, KCl and NaCl). The structural, morphological and luminescent properties of these phosphors have been investigated in detail. The orthorhombic crystal structure was confirmed by x-ray diffraction pattern and observed the irregular morphology of particles in SEM image with the particle size in micrometer (μm) range. Absorption and excitation spectra exhibit the intense f-f transitions of Eu3+ ions in the NUV and blue wavelength region. Photoluminescence studies reveal that incorporation of fluxes significantly enhance the luminescent properties and exhibit intense red emission due to hypersensitive 5D0 → 7F2 transition. Among all fluxes, NH4Cl was found to be a suitable flux that enhances luminescence intensity more than two times while compared to the optimized 12 mol% Eu3+ doped BaNb2O6 phosphor. The Commission Internationale de I’Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates of the optimized sample are found to be (0.65, 0.35), which are well matched with commercial Y2O3: Eu3+ phosphor. The decay studies have been carried out to understand the energy transfer mechanisms. Above results suggested that this efficient red phosphor could be useful for various applications in NUV and blue excited display and lighting devices." @default.
