Application of his concept will result in a more effective and efficient information exchange, using adaptive information filtering and control techniques. The paper starts with a discussion about the relevance of information management systems, referring to several real examples. Although the examples are taken from the military domain, they are also applicable to the industrial domain. The paper continues with a discussion of the required technological baseline for the application of adaptive information filtering and control techniques. The proposed concept consists of an 'Information Control Module' and an 'Information Filtering Module'. The Information Control Module uses descriptions of the tasks to be fulfilled by the operator and of the kinds of scenarios the operator is involved in, to supply abstract information filter profiles to the Information Filtering Module. The task of the Information Filtering Module is to interpret the filter settings and to apply them to the available information. The processes within these two modules will be described" @default.
