- W2347605214 abstract "Objective To explore the therapeutic effects of tiopronin on different kind of liver damage. Methods 220 cases with liver damage due to viral hepatitis, drug hepatitis, alcohol hepatitis and after radiotherapy or chemotherapy to tumor patients were divided randomly into two groups on the average. The control group was treated by inosinum 0.6 g, (vitamin) C 2.0 g and vitamin B_6 0.2 g with intravenous drip once a day for three weeks. The treatment group was treated by (tiopronin) 0.2 g with intravenous drip once a day for three weeks, and liver function including alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activities, the levels of serum total protein (TP), total bilirubin (TBi), and total bile acid (TBA) were measured respectively. The results of two groups were compared. Results The therapeutic effects of the treatment group were evidently prior to the control group in recovering liver function and the clinical symptoms imp roved obviously in treatment group. Treatment with the drug was associated with a significant improvement in abnormalities of serum transaminase. The obvious effective rates were 50%(55/110) in the treatment group, and 30%(33/110) in the control group, respectively. The total effective rates were 84%(92/110) in the former and 50%(55/110) in the later, respectively. Significant difference in therapeutic effects was found between the two groups (P0.01). Conclusions The present data suggest that tiopronin improves the liver function with few side-effects and has a good therapeutic effect on patients with liver damages during short-term study." @default.
