- W2348274243 abstract "AIM: To investigate the effects of C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) on the cardiac function and their correlation with the levels of serum nitric oxide (NO) in patients with pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH). METHODS: 40 severe PIH patients were divided randomly to two groups and infused intravenously with CNP (6 μg/kg) or placebos for 30 minutes. Parameters of cardiac function in terms of strode volume (SV), cardiac output (CO), LV-ejection fraction(LVEF), cardiac index (CI) and heart rate (HR) were detected with Acuson 128 XP/10 computed sonography and blood pressure (BP) was recorded and serum nitrite/nitrate (NO 2 - /NO 3 -), the end products of NO were measured before and after the infusion of either CNP or placebos.40 normal pregnancy women served as the control group of basic parameters. RESULTS: Compared with control group, parameters of cardiac function in PIH patients were increased, decreased or normal and the parameter ranges were obviously extended. However the mean cardiac output (CO) and heart rate (HR) were significantly increased (P0.05 respectively). After the infusion of CNP, the mean arterial pressure (MAP) was significantly decreased (P0.01). HR, SV, CO and CI were also significantly decreased (P0.05,respectively) and there was a positive correlation between each decreased index and each basic index(P0.01,respectively). The level of serum NO 2 - /NO 3 - was significantly increased (P0.01).In the placebos group, there were no significant changes in cardiac function parameters, MAP and the level of serum NO 2 - /NO 3 -. No significant correlations were observed between the level of serum NO 2 - /NO 3 -,and CO and HR(P0.05). CONCLUSION: CNP inhibited the high cardiac function and enhanced NO production, but NO may not be involved directly in the process of CNP regulating the cardiac function in PIH patients." @default.
