- W2348765914 abstract "Based on the teacher role theory and its research status quo in China,this paper interprets the interconnection among foreign language teacher community,local educational culture and teacher role practice in terms of the nature of educational culture and teacher roles,the relationship between them and the process of teacher role practice. In the light of the results of an investigation,the paper argues that the teacher role fulfillment in China is loaded with cultural,social and disciplinary pressure; it is not a lineal transition from theory to practice,or from advocation to implementation,but a selective practice with teachers’ active cognition and adaptation of the local educational culture. Therefore,research on foreign language teacher roles should be shifted from teaching theories to teacher voices,and get beyond teacher role principles to teacher narrations and beliefs shaped by their own educational culture in which teachers are just common social actors." @default.
