- W2348944757 abstract "OBJECTIVE To explore the relationship of hypertension prevalence and Body Mass Index in 7～13 years old children in Gansu Province. METHODS With stratified cluster sampling, 3 058 students(1 612 male and 1 446 female)aged 7～13 years from primary schools in three districts of Gansu Province were investigated in November, 2010, and examined on their body height, weight, systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, etc. Data was analyzed with SPSS 11.5. RESULTS The survey found, the rate of overweight and obesity was 9.09% and hypertension 13.91%. The canonical correlations were statistically significant between the children’s the rate of overweight and hypertension(P0.01). CONCLUSION The hypertension ratio is intermediate level for 7～13 years old children in Gansu Province. Obesity is one of the important risk factors leading to hypertension, the prevention and the control of the incidence of hypertension should be started from childhood. Therefore, those children with high blood pressure and obesity should be the focus of the prevented crowd." @default.
