- W2349134851 abstract "The Aesthetics Discussion Movement launched in 1956began as a continuity of criticizing part of HU Shi's bourgeois idealism,a campaign not being something of a pure academic activity but one under the leftist ideology.Yet its academic motivation remains undeniable for various reasons. We found, from HUANG Yao-mian's speech draft entitled Beauty as Aesthetic Appraisal:Something One Cannot Remain Silent For written on June 3,1957but published 42years later, that allthe four schoolsin the 1950sbelong to the epistemological trend and only HUANG conceives the idea of axiological aesthetics, which is not a blind copy of epistemological term but a criticism of the simplistic approach of that school.HUANG's axiological aesthetics contains three statements.First, beauty is a phenomenon about human social life;second,it is historically nurtured;and third, aesthetic appraisalcan only be realized in all factors concerning humanattitude of affect.HUANG explicitly pointed out that only holding philosophical doctrines can aesthetic problems be properly solved. In such a way did he turn toward the axiological principle. To be specific,of‘truth',‘virtue',and‘beauty',the epistemological school seeks but‘truth',and yet‘virtue'and‘beauty'are a kind of value that embodies human need,an issue that demands more reference to axiology for the solution. Therefore,HUANG started modern aesthetics in its axiological way in the history of Chinese aesthetics development." @default.
