• W2349476216 abstract "Objective: To observe the expression of TTF-1 in human normal adult type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells, embryonic pneumocytes, lung ancer cells carcinoma and metastasis in lymph nodes, and to analyze its significance in lung carcinogenesis and metastasis. Method: Paraffin embedded tissue blocks were used. The intensity of TTF-1 expression was investigated by immunohistochemical SP method using monoclonal antibody to TTF-1 and was assessed quantitatively by Leica Q500MC image analysis system. Results: TTF-1 positive unit (PU) is smaller in the nuclei of embryonic pneumocytes than in those of normal adult type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells and there is a significant difference (P0.001). TTF-1 PU is smaller in cancerous nuclei of lung carcinoma than in the nuclei of normal adult type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells or embryonic pneumocytes and the difference between them is significance (P0.001). TTF-1 PU is bigger in cancerous nucleiof lung adenocarcinoma and small cell lung carcinoma than in those of squamous cell carcinoma and large cell lung carcinoma and there is a significant difference between them (P0.001). TTF-1 PU is larger in cell nuclei of squamous cell carcinoma than in those of large cell lung carcinoma and there was significance (P0.001). In lung adenocarcinoma, squamous cell lung carcinoma and large cell lung carcinoma, TTF-1 PU is larger in cancerous cell nuclei of metastatic lymph nodes than in those of primary carcinomas and the difference is significant (P0.001,P0.001,P0.05). In small cell lung carcinoma, TTF-1 PU of cancerous cell nuclei of metastatic lymph nodes is similar to that of primary carcinomas and there is no significante difference (P0.05). TTF-1 PU is larger in cancerous cell nuclei of lung carcinoma with lymph node metastasis than in those without and the difference is significante (P0.001). TTF-1 PU of the nuclei was not associated with tumor growth pattern, differentiation and patients' sex (P0.05). TTF-1 PU of the nuclei is larger in TNM stage Ⅱ-Ⅳ than in stage Ⅰand the difference is significante (P0.001). Conclusions: The amount of TTF-1 differs in the nuclei of normal adult type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells, embryonic pneumocytes and lung carcinoma cells and decreases orderly. The expression of TTF-1 differs in different types of lung carcinomas. Stronger the expression of TTF-1, may be favorable for metatasis of lung carcinomas. Cancer cells of lung adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and large cell carcinoma with strong expression of TTF-1 in the cell nuclei are one of the important indicators of cells with distinct potential of metastasis.The study was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation and the science and technology planning project of Guangdong Province." @default.
