- W2349772511 abstract "Objective: To investigate the value of peripheral white blood cell counts(WBCC) in normal range on predicting metabolic syndrome in obesity.Methods: 4076 subjects were evaluated for routine health examination in People's Hospital of Hunan ProvincefromApril2006toJanuary2010,2830individualswereenrolledexcludingthosewithmissingdata.1367individualswerefollowed up during 1～3 years.Obesity was diagnosed according to the criteria of the Asia-Pacific region of international obesity task force(IOTF) in 2000,1120 individuals were obese.Metabolic Syndrome(MS) was diagnosed according to the critetia of Chinese Diabetes Society(CDS) in 2004.325 obesity without MS with normal WBCC were divided into four groups according to quartile of WBCC,following up for 1 to 3 years,compare the risk of incident MS in different groups of quartile of WBCC.Results: 1.The percentage of MS in obesity was 31.43%(352/1120).2.325 obesity without MS with normal WBCC were divided into four groups according to quartile of WBCC(Q1～Q4),the incidence of MS in the highest quartile of WBCC(Q4) was significantly increased(OR=2.712;95% CI: 1.149-6.400,P0.05).Conclusions: 1.The percentage of MS in obesity was 31.43%.2.Even in the normal range,the elevated WBCC could predicte the risk of incident MS in obesity." @default.
