- W2350902969 abstract "Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics, glucose tolerance, high sensitive CRP(hs-CRP)level and beta-cell function in Chinese women with GDM for their relations to postpartum diabetes. Methods A 75 g oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT)was performed at six weeks after delivery in 186 women with diagnosed GDM who delivered at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yet-sen University. For those with abnormal glucose level, dietary advice and physical activities were conducted.Another 75 g OGTT was performed in 6~12 months.Plasmatic insulin and glucose were measured at fasting,30' and 2 h after 75 g glucose challenge.hs-CRP were measured as well.ΔINS/ΔBG([insulin 30'-insulin 0']/[glucose 30'-glucose 0'])were used to evaluate beta-cell function. The maternal and infant anthropometric parameters, antenatal complications, and maternal glucose, insulin data were collected. Results A total of 186 women with prior GDM had a 75 g OGTT at six weeks after delivery.52(27.96%)had abnormal glucose level(1 IFG,46 IGT,and 5 DM).31(60%)of the 52 had a second 75 g OGTT in 6~12 months.14 of those 31 women developed early postpartum impaired glucose regulation(10 IGT,4 DM).Compared to the women with resuming NGT(n=17),women of early postpartum glucose intolerance showed has lower postpartum fasting insulin level(6.76±3.45 μU/ml vs.11.57±6.27 μU/ml,P=0.013),lower ΔINS/ΔBG(0.667±0.536 vs.1.435±1.046,P=0.014)and higher postprandial glucose during pregnancy than the NGT women(10.87±1.94 mmol/L vs.9.48±1.36 mmol/L,P=0.038).There are no difference in the maternal parameters, antenatal complications,birth-weight of infants, fasting glucose during pregnancy between the two groups. No difference of hs-CRP and lipid level were found as well. Conclusions The intrinsic beta-cell dysfunction of postpartum in 6~12 months may be the risk factor for diabetes in women with prior GDM.In the current data we did not find inflammation or any maternal and pregnant metabolic parameters that are relative to postpartum diabetes." @default.
