- W2350911180 abstract "Objectives Using noninvasive way to monitor airway inflammation and optimize treatment of children with asthma. Methods Forty-five(45)asthmatic children(study group)and 12 healthy children(control group)were included. Study group were divided into long-term remission group(n = 13,remission more than 12 months),short-term remission group(n = 15,remission less than 12 months),and exacerbated asthma group(EA group, n = 17). Lung function, methacholine provocation test, eosinophil count of sputum induced(SI),eosinophil cationic protein(ECP)and IL-5 in both SI and serum by enzyme-linked fluorescent assay and ELISA respectively were performed. Results ①There were 46.15% children of long-term remission group were detected the FEF75 value was less than 80% of the estimated, which was higher than the control group(P 0.05),and FEF25 of long-term remission group was 106.3% ± 14.8%,which was higher than that of EA group(P 0.05=. ② There was no significant difference between long-term remission group and control group in airway hyperreaction(AHR)(P 0.05). ③ There were no significant differences between remission groups and control group in eosinophil count,ECP of serum,IL-5 of SI and serum(P 0.05). ECP of SI of the two remission groups were higher than that of control group(P 0.05=. ④ The parameter of small airway function negatively correlated with methacholine provocation test, eosinophil count of SI,ECP and IL-5(all P 0.05=. ⑤AHR was higher in those with small airway obstruction than those without obstruction(P 0.05=,and there was a significantly negative correlation between small airway function parameter and IL-5 in SI(P 0.05=. ⑥ The methacholine provocation test correlated positively with IL-5 and ECP in SI and ECP in serum(P 0.05=. ⑦ There were no significant differences between the two remission groups in lung function parameter,AHR,eosinophil count,ECP,IL-5 in SI and ECP,IL-5 in serum(all P 0.05). ⑧The noninvasive measurements in this study was of no value to predict long-term remission by multiple logistic regression(P 0.05). Conclusions ①Asthmatic children with long-term remission continued to exhibit small airway obstruction and signs of airway inflammation to some extent. Measurement of ECP in SI was the most sensitive method with comparison to the others. ② Noninvasive measurements selected in this study play a role in predicting asthma remission, but were of no significance of predicting for long-term remission." @default.
