- W2351728725 abstract "Objective To investigate the association of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and matrix metalloproteinases-9(MMP-9) expression with the carcinogenesis process taken place in nasopharyngeal epithelia based on the observation carried out in a group of clinical cases. Methods This study included 30 cases with chronic nasopharyngitis,42 cases with atypical hyperplasia/metaplasia in nasopharyngeal epithelia and 34 cases with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),all chosen from Zhongshan region, where holding a very high incidence of NPC,and being taken a sample from their nasopharynx. Then, the procedures of immunohis- tochemistry were taken to detect the expression of PCNA and MMP-9 in these nasopharyngeal samples, followed by a comparative analysis on the detected data in this way to explore the differences and implications of PCNA and MMP-9 expressing activities. Results The positive expressing rates of PCNA were 10.0%,73.8% and 82.4% in the tissues of nasopharyngitis, nasopharyngeal epithelia with atypical hyperplasia/metaplasia,and NPC focuses, while that of MMP-9 were 0.0%,38.1%,and 67.6% in these tissue samples respectively, all these differences with statistical significance (P0.001).Conclusion An increasing activity expression tendency of PCNA and MMP-9 can be concluded with the undergone severity degree in the pathological pro- cess of carcinogenesis taken place in nasopharyngeal epithelia." @default.
