- W2352806622 abstract "Objective To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of GDx VCC measurement in primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG).Methods One hundred twenty-seven healthy subjects(normal visual fields,healthy-looking optic discs,and intraocular pressures≤21mm Hg,1mm Hg=0.133 kPa)and 133 patients with POAG(repro- ducible glaucomatous VF defect and/or a glaucomatous appearance of optic disc in at least one eye)received GDx examination with an automated variable corneal compensator(VCC).Five parameters,including TSNIT(temporal, superior,nasal,inferior,temporal)average value,upper average,lower average,TSNIT standard deviation(Std. Dev.),and nerve fiber indicator(NFI),were recorded.We constructed receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves for all available parameters and calculated the area under the ROC curves(AUC).Then the sensitivity,spe- cificity,and likelihood ratios for the best discriminating parameter were calculated.In addition,we also calculated AUC,sensitivity and specificity in patients with mild,moderate,and severe glaucomatous damage separately.Re- sults The AUCs for TSNIT average value,upper average,lower average,TSNIT Std.Dev.,and NFI were 0.94,0.94,0.93,0.92 and 0.97,respectively.For the best discriminating parameter NFI,the sensitivity and specificity with a cutoff point of 30 were 91.0% and 95.3%,respectively.The likelihood ratio for glaucoma were 19.3 at NFI values of＞30.The AUCs for NFI in glaucoma patients with mild,moderate and severe damage were 0.94,0.99 and 0.99,respectively.At the cutoff level of＞30,the sensitivities of the NFI for glaucoma patients with mild,moderate,and severe damage were 82.2%,94.0% and 97.4%,respectively.Conclusion The GDx VCC allows rapid,easy,accurate discrimination between healthy and glaucomatous eyes.The NFI is the best discriminating parameter.(Shanghai Med J,2007,30:438-441)" @default.
