- W2352940512 abstract "Yangzhou Pinghua (story-telling) took the heritage of that of the Song and Yuan Dynasties and made Pinghua of the Qing Dynasty flourishing. It conforms to the revive of the commoners literature put forward by Lu Xun without any verification for a long time. As far as literary creation is concerned, Yangzhou Pinghua, spanning before and after May 4th Movement, has great value to make researches. Those stories written in Yangzhou dialect include mainly the marketplace fiction, swordsman fiction and the new editions of some masterpieces. They are characterized by the colour of commonplace and the masculine spirit, coming down in one continuous line with modern masses literature. Yangzhou Pinghua has a long history and great value, and it is related to many branches of science. It should be treated as a branch of science so that we can protect it better and carry it forward." @default.
