- W2354163259 abstract "Solution culture experiments were carried out to study the effects of different MTBE levels(0～500 mg/L) on growth and antioxidant system of rice seedlings.The results showed that no obvious toxic symptom in seedlings was observed in the whole dose range,and growth of rice seedlings was not affected by 5 mg/L MTBE,while the activities of SOD and the content of MDA in leaves decreased.With the increase of MTBE concentrations,the inhibition of rice growth and chlorophyll concentrations in rice leaves was observed to some extent.Under 50 mg/L and 500 mg/L MTBE stress,plant height decreased by 59.1%,fresh weight of shoots and root length of rice seedlings decreased respectively by 29.2% and 20.6%,the content of chlorophyll,chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b were lower than those of the control,while the ratio of chlorophyll a/b and activities of SOD were increased,the content of MDA in leaves reached a peak at treatment 50 mg/L and then with the continuous increase of concentrations of MTBE,the content of MDA decreased gradually.The activities of CAT and POD in the leaves did not change much at low MTBE concentrations(less than 5 mg/L),but fluctuated drastically at high MTBE concentrations.When rice was grown in solutions with 500 mg/L MTBE,the activities of CAT and POD decreased as the result of the increase of the content and accumulation of H2O2 or MTBE in rice seedlings.The results of this study indicated that rice seedlings had an excellent response system against MTBE damage." @default.
