- W2354211574 abstract "Objective To investigate the resistance of clinical isolates of Streptococcus isolates collected from 14 hospitals nationwide in 2009 CHINET program. Methods A total of 1 838 Streptococcus isolates were collected from 14 hospitals nationwide during 2009.The susceptibility testing was carried out according to a unified protocol of Kirby-Bauer method(KB)and E-test.Results were analyzed according to CLSI 2009 criteria. Results Among the 1 838 strains of Streptococcus,S.pneumoniae accounted for 54.7%(1 006/1 838),β-hemolytic Streptococcus 37.0%(681/1 838),of which group A accounted for 38.9%,group B 38.8%,and group C to G together with other unspecified 22.3%.The isolates of α-hemolytic Streptococcus from sterile body fluids(excluding S.pneumoniae)accounted for 8.2%(151/1 838).The prevalence of penicillin non-susceptible strains PISP and PRSP in the nonmeningitis S.pneumoniae isolates from children and adolescents were 17.4% and 13.7% respectively, which were higher than that from adults(3.8% and 1.2%).The percentage of group A to G of β-hemolytic Streptococcus strains resistant to penicillin ranged from 0 to 5.3%.About 13.2% of α-hemolytic Streptococcus strains were resistant to penicillin, which was higher than other Streptococcus isolates.More than 50% of Streptococcus isolates were resistant to erythromycin, clindamycin. All isolates were highly sensitive to levofloxacin, vancomycin, linezolid, moxifloxacin and meropenem. Conclusions Penicillin is still the first choice for the treatment of the infections caused by Streptococcus isolates(except CNS infections).Streptococcus isolates are still highly resistant to erythromycin and clindamycin in China." @default.
