- W2354421612 abstract "In introducing this book we highlighted the difficulties inherent in attempts to 'make sense of school health education' and acknowledged the complex nature of curriculum in Australia, and internationally. In Chapter 2 we pointed to some of the notable claims that accompany or are explicit in curriculum texts. This chapter draws on recent work in education policy sociology and curriculum studies to further explore the complexities associated with school curriculum and specifically, contemporary health education curriculum. In particular the chapter directs attention to the critical need to locate curriculum amidst policy contexts that span education and health, and to acknowledge the interplay between curriculum and political, social, cultural, historical and institutional contexts. In examining aspects of this interplay we point to possibilities for and constraints on health education curriculum in Australia, internationally, and in individual schools." @default.
