• W2354783947 abstract "Aim: To evaluate the changes and the significance of expression of p53,P21~ waf1 ,BrdU,and PCNA in the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and the precancerous lesions.Methods: Using immunohistochemistry (ABC) technique, the expression of p53,P21~ waf1 ,BrdU in S phase and PCNA was detected in 179 symptomGAAB2free subjects (normal 31, BCH 117,DYS 31), 26 surgically removed SCC specimens and 37 surgically removed SCC specimens with precancerous lesions (normal 7, BCH 29, DYS 23) from the same patient at Linzhou and Anyang, the high incidence areas for SCC, in Henan province. Results: From normal esophageal epithelium to BCH, DYS and SCC, the number of p53 immunostaining cells was significantly increased and the p53 protein accumulation was also associated with the lymph node metastasis of SCC. A downtrend of the number of P21~ waf1 immunostaining cells was found in the process from BCH to DYS and SCC. The difference of the number of BrdU positive cells among the normal, BCH, DYS and SCC samples was significant in 37 surgically removed SCC specimens with precancerous lesions from the same patient. Conclusion: p53 protein accumulation may play a key role in accelerating cell hyperplasia in carcinogenesis of SCC. P21~ waf1 may be an important protective factor in carcinogenesis of SCC." @default.
