- W2355106581 abstract "Objective To observe the expression of 5-HT1 receptor subtype mRNAs in the rat sensory ganglia. Methods Reverse transcript-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and in situ hybridization histochemical techniques were used. Results 1. The presence of mRNA for 5-HT1A, 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptor subtypes in the rat dorsal root ganglion(DRG), trigeminal ganglion(TG)and nodose ganglion(NG)was detected by PCR. Positive band intensities for these receptor subtypes were different in above mentioned ganglia. 2. Positive cells for 5-HT1A, 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptor subtype mRNAs were observed in all of these three kinds of sensory ganglia. The percentage of opitive cells for each 5-HT1 recepror subtype mRNA to the total number of the counted cells in different kinds of ganglia was different. The highest percentages of 5-HT1D receptor subtype mRNA in both DRG and TG were 28. 8 % and 27. 9 %, re- spectively. In NG, about 23. 1 % of total cells were albeled with 5-HT1B receptor mRNA, higher than that labeled with 5-HT1A and 5- HT1D subtypes. The positive signals were mainly confined to a subpopulation of small and medium-sized cells. 3. No expression of 5- HT1F receptor subtype mRNA was detected in all of these three kinds of ganglia. Conclusion 5-HT1 receptor subtypes distributed het- erogeneously in the rat sensory ganglia, they may play important roles in the transmission and regulation of the nociceptive information." @default.
