- W2355359610 abstract "The grease test samples contained mixed calcium and aluminum soaps containing various acid residues. In the next step in this work, we investigated the properties of cCa greases formulated with C10-C20 SFA, with the addition of aluminum soaps of the same SFA. The ratio between the complex calcium soaps and the aluminum soaps in the thickening agent was varied, with a constant total soap content. In Fig. 1 it is shown that the dependence of the thickening effect on the ratio between the complex calcium and aiuminumsoaps is extremal (the maximum corresponds to 20-40% aluminum soap). The results obtained in determinations of apparent viscosity showed a similar effect from the soap ratio. Even small amounts of aluminum soap added to the complex calcium soap (10% of total thickening agent) reduced the susceptibility of the greases to heatand moistur e-hard ening. In determining the influence of the aluminum soaps on the grease oxidation stability, samples were oxidized on copper strips by atmospheric oxygen for 3 h at 200~ The degree of oxidation was evaluated by means of iR spectroscopy, according to the change in the extinction coefficient K1710, which is the ratio of the optical density at the frequency of stretching vibrations of the C- O groups to the thickness of the sample layer. It was established that a thickening agent with a content of more than 20% aluminum soap begins to manifest an inhibiting effect. The decrease in thickening effect of the mixed soap when the content of aluminum soap is increased to 20-40% (Fig. 1) may be related to the decrease in content of acetic acid in the grease. In this connection, we investigated the properties of calcium aluminum greases with a constant content of calcium acetate in thickening agents with different ratios of calcium and aluminum soaps of the SFA. As the aluminum soap content was increased with a constant content of calcium acetate, we found a sharp increase in the thickening power of the mixed soap; the yield stress of the cCa grease increased by a factor of 10 in comparison with the yield stress of the cCa grease without any aluminum soap (Fig. 2). Increases in the content of aluminum soap led to increases in the heat and moisture resistance of the grease and in its oxidation stability." @default.
