- W2355952472 abstract "【Objective】 To study the clinical effects of percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP) and percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP) for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture of the aged.【Methods】From March 2008 to May 2010,62 cases with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture of the aged were treated by minimally invasive operation.Among them,29 cases(35 vertebrae) were treated with PVP and 33 cases(45 vertebrae) were treated with PKP.The visual analogue scale(VAS),mobility,the vertebral height eoperatively and kyphosis of Cobb angle were evaluated preoperatively 3 day and 12 month postoperatively separately.And the polymethyl methacrylate plastics(PMMA) leakage was recorded at the same time.【Results】According to VAS standard and mobility standard,there was significantly different in the two groups 3 day and 12 month postoperatively compared with preoperative(P 0.05).And there was no different between the two groups at the same time(P 0.05).Compared with the preoperative,the vertebral height eoperatively and kyphosis of Cobb angle showed significant improvement at the 3th day and 12th month after treatment in the two groups(P 0.05).The vertebral height operatively showed significant different in the two groups 3 day and 12 month postoperatively.And the group of PKP was better than the group of PVP(P 0.05).Compared with the group of PVP,the correcting deformity of kyphosis of Cobb angle in the group of PKP showed better improvement(P 0.05).5 cases(8 vertebrae) in PVP group and 2 cases(3 vertebrae) in PKP group suffered PMMA leakage.Compared with PVP group,the rate of PMMA leakage in PKP group was better(P 0.05).【Conclusion】PVP and PKP both achieve rapid and significant improvement of back pain in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture of the aged.However,PKP shows a better effect in the terms of vertebral body height restoration and kyphosis of Cobb angle deformity and less PMMA leakage happened." @default.
