- W2356543134 abstract "Objective To investigate the characters and significance on changes of oxygen-derived free radicals in old multi-organic failure patients.Methods One hundred and thirty six patients were divided 3 groups:control group(40 cases),single-organic failure group(36 cases),muti-organic failure group(60cases),and survival group(28 cases) and deceased group(32 cases) by their prognosis.Superoxide dismutase(SOD),malondic aldehyde(MDA) and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) was determined,the changes of oxygen-derived free radicals and mortality were recorded.Acute physiology and chronic health evaluation Ⅱ(APACHEⅡ) score and multiple organ dysfunction score(MODS) was recorded to evalute the severity of the MOF patients.The correlation between APACHEⅡ score and each parameter of oxidative stress was analyzed.Results ①Compared to control group,the SOD and GSH-Px level in both single-organic failure group and muti-organic failure group was decreased significantly(P0.01),while the level of MDA in both single-organic failure group and muti-organic failure group was higher significantly(P0.01).Further more,the SOD and GSH-Px level in muti-organic failure group was lower than sigle-organic failure group,the MDA level in muti-organic failure group was higher than sigle-organic failure group(P0.01).②In muti-organic failure group,the SOD and GSH-Px level of deceased group was lower than survival group,the MDA level of deceased group was higher than survival group(P0.01).③APACHEⅡscore and MODS of muti-organic failure group was higher than single-organic failure group.And APACHEⅡscore and MODS of deceased group was higher than survival group.④There was a significant positive correlation between APACHEⅡscore and the MDA level,significant negative correlation between APACHEⅡscore and the SOD and GSH-Px level in old multi-organic failure patients.Conclusion With increase of the numbers of failure organ and worse of the patient's condition,the SOD and GSH-Px level lower,the MDA level higher.Determination of oxygen-derived free radicals in patients of muti-organic failure group contribute to evaluate status and the prognosis of MOF." @default.
