- W2357140525 abstract "The power train engine→main transmission→main rotor of a conventional helicopter is usually realized in modular design (see Fig.1) Each individual component has its specific function which also in a geometrical sense is performed within strictly defined dimensions in line with the respective configuration. The objective of the research and development activities in the field of transmission technology for future helicopter generations in to integrate further functions and components into the helicopter's main transmission. Large scale integration of additional control functions into the transmission is intended to save weight as well as to minimize losses and failure probability. Improved aerodynamics due to the transfer of moving parts (swash plate, control rods) into the transmission results in an increase in efficiency. Integrated status monitoring as well as reduced operating costs and simplified maintenance are achievable. Within the framework of the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) program, ZF Friedrichashafen AG (ZF) together with the Indian Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.(HAL) has defined and developed an Integrated Dynamic System (IDS) which due to its innovative design is superior to today's helicopter power transmitting systems with regard to above explained aspects. Further development work momentarily in process at ZF Luftfahrttechnik GmbH(ZFL) is to make use of the experience gained within the ALH program with the objective of finding an application oriented subsytem which in the future is to represent the only interface between the power unit and the rotor blades. This transmission must possess utmost reliability in all operating conditions and for its entire lifetime. The ZFL IDS is a promising propulsion system for helicopters of the next generation, due to the synthesis of integrated blade control and flat type transmission combined with the integration of new technologies for materials, gearing geometry, aerodynamic performance, lubrication and monitoring procedures as well as integrated status control." @default.
