- W2357474705 abstract "Effects of La and Y on microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy were carried out so as to verify the possibility of substitution of the rare earth elements for Ni and Cr which are often considered as strategy elements and worthwhile to save them. The composition of master alloy is Al 22%Si, the additives are mixing rare earth elements containing 80%La and Al 88%Y alloy, respectively. The additive contents cover a range of 0.6%￣1.4%La and 0.10%￣0.18%Y. Test bars of 12 mm×60 mm were cast at the pouring temperature of 740°C in a permanent mold preheating to about 250°C. High temperature tensile strength was tested with the bars keeping 30 min at 300°C. The results show that La and Y can not refine primary silicon without other additives, both primary and eutectic silicon are modified with addition of P, La and Y, and the diameter of primary silicon can be reduced to about 22 μm. It also shows that compound Al 5SiCu 2La which is helpful to the strength can be formed with the proper addition of La, and Y can effectively hamper the compound to grown up to coarse needle like ones. As a result, the highest tensile strength at room temperature is 276 MPa after T7 treatment and that at 300°C is as high as 174 MPa at most." @default.
