- W2357931611 abstract "With accurate water control,the differences among the long-term water use efficiencies,δ~(13)C,and photosynthetic parameters(G_s、T_r、P_n、WUE_i、C_i、P_(max)、LSP、Ce) of different Populus deltoides clones in four different water treatments were studied in greenhouse and then the relations between these differences were analyzed.The results showed that the δ~(13)C、G_s、T_r、P_n、WUE_i and C_i significantly differed among the water treatments.With intensified water stress,the δ~(13)C and WUE increased and G_s、T_r、P_n、WUE_i and C_i decreased.In the same water treatments the clones significantly differed in δ~(13)C and WUE_L but showed no significant differences in G_s、T_r、P_n、WUE_i and C_i.The δ~(13)C and WUE_L differences of the clones presented a consistent pattern in the four water treatments,i.e.the highest WUE_L appeared in J_2 and the WUE_L next to the highest WUE_L occurred in J_6,J_7,J_8 and J_9,while these clones showed a higher δ~(13)C.The G_s was the key factor of affecting the water use efficiencies,the clones with high G_s having high WUE_L.Although J_2,J_6,J_7,J_8 and J_9 did not present the highest net photosynthetic rate and the highest instant WUE_i,their maximum net photosynthetic rates(P_(max)) and light saturated points(LSP) and carboxylation efficiencies(C_e) and photosynthetic capabilities were higher.The major factors affecting the δ~(13)C and WUE_L differences of the clones were the G_s and the photosynthetic capabilities,and J_2,J_6,J_7,J_8 and J_9 all had low G_s and high photosynthetic capabilities.In different water treatments,the δ~(13)C and WUE_L appeared to positively correlate,but this correlation only worked well with its coefficient standing at 0.707 7 under sufficient water supply because the δ~(13)C differences resulting from water stress were much bigger than those among the clones." @default.
