- W2357996413 abstract "A broadband fiber amplifier which can cover both C-band and L-band simultaneously was experimentally studied based on a novel type of bismuth-based erbium-doped fiber(Bi-EDFs).Bi-EDFs are considered as the most potential candidate for broadband amplifiers.In this experiment only 49.2 cm Bi-EDF was used in the bi-directional pumped amplifier.The ASE spectrums were first studied with two distinct characteristics.In order to explore the gain property of this amplifier,three different input signal powers of -30 dBm,-15 dBm and 0 dBm were used in the experiment.In all this cases the broadband amplifying-ability is demonstrated from 1 535～1 620 nm with a 70 nm (1 540～1 610 nm) gain span above 10 dB.In paricular when the input power at 0 dBm the 3 dB-gain bandwidth of 63 nm (1 540～1 603 nm) is demonstrated.The green fluorescence phenomenon caused by high erbium ions concentration was also discussed together with the latest development report on Bi-EDF.All these results show that this new type fiber is an excellent candidate for the broadband compact amplifiers in the future." @default.
