- W2358980948 abstract "Objective To accurately reflect the actual changes of the airway inflammation.Methods are investigated to assess the airway inflammation by eosinophils number changes in induced sputum of asthmatic patients.Methods A method to induce sputum with inhaled hypertonic saline(4%～5%) was respectively used in 28 asthmatic patients(15 mild patients,13 moderate patients),16 patients followed-up and 14 healthy volunteers.Hypertonic saline solution was inhaled for up to 30 minutes.Plugs from the induced sputum were selected for differential cell counts after being treated with 0.1% fresh dithiothreitol.All samples were conducted in single-blind manner.Results The percentage eosinophil counts in induced sputum of the asthmatic patients is higher than the healthy volunteers.There is no statistically significant between the mild and the moderate asthmatic patients(P0.05),but it is statistically significant among the followed-up group(P0.01).Conclusion Only once eosinophil counting can not evaluate the presence and degree of inflammation in the airways of the asthmatic patients, but the developmental eosinophil counting can reflect the actual changes of the airway inflammation in induced sputum of asthmatic patients." @default.
