- W2359465619 abstract "The direct calculation method for fatigue assessment, which is based on spectrum analysis, is a relatively precise method of fatigue assessment of ship structures presently. However, it is not convenient to carry out this method because of its large amount of work. This has focused attention on the design wave approach for fatigue assessment. For a better application of the design wave approach, related principles were discussed, and then a new method was presented to generate the design wave for fatigue assessment. Under the new design wave, the fatigue assessment of a roll on and roll off (Ro/Ro) vessel was computed and the corresponding result was compared with the result from the simplified method and direct calculation method. The comparison shows that the fatigue life obtained by the design wave approach agrees well with those from the simplified method for the typical structures at the bottom shell and side shell, but the fatigue life is not close among the three methods for the typical structures at other regions." @default.
