- W2360321350 abstract "Objective:To study the practical value of preoperative selective intraarterial embolization in the surgical treatment of Nosopharynegal angiofibroma.Methods:15 patients with nasopharyngeal angiofibroma confirmed after surgery and biopsy were retrospectively analysed Bilateral carotil artery angiograpy was perfromed for demerstration of the arterial supply of sturer.According to the size and different caliber of arteries,embolization were seperatily undertaken by gelatin sponge,PVA or different of coil.The embolization was evaluated by amount of blood loss.Results:15 cases underwent operation after selective embolization of blood supplying arteries and the amount of blooding in operation was thus reduced greatly in 13 cases.wiil the blood loss during the surgery of another 2 cases was still considerable because both onternal carotid artery and internal carotid artery supplied the tumor with only embolization of maxillary artery.Optimism time for the operation was taken on 1～4 days after the embolization.Conclusion:Preoperative embolization is safe,reliable with less complication especially for reducing intraoperative blood loss and promoting the prognosis,is a valuable method of choice for the clinical treatment." @default.
