- W2361544596 abstract "Objective To explore the feasibility of two-dimensional echocardiographic(2-DE) observation and measurement of atrioventricular septum(AVS)of the heart,and to evaluate the clinical sig- nificance of this investigation.Methods An observation on the AVS of the heart was carried out in 5 heart specimens from adult cadavers.The position,borders and adjacent structures of AVS were defined;and the lengths of anterior and inferior margins,the widths of anterior,middle and posterior parts of AVS were meas- ured.Then,the above-mentioned parameters of AVS were observed and measured by different sonographic sections in 100 randomly selected adults whose echocardiographic images were distinctive. The echocardio- graphic results and anatomic measurements of AVS were comparatively analyzed.Results The echocardio- graphic measurements of AVS were as follows.The mean widths of anterior,middle and posterior parts of AVS were(0.6±0.61)cm,(1.1±0.22)cm and(0.61±0.44)cm,respectively.The mean lengths of inferior and anterior borders of AVS were(3.4±0.69)cm and(1.8±0.62)cm,respectively.There was no significant difference of these values of AVS between echocardiographic and anatomic measurements(P＞0.05).Conclusions The results suggest that the position,boundary and surrounding structures of AVS can be revealed and measured by 2-DE." @default.
