- W2361970195 abstract "Sprinkler droplets impact soil surface, which destroys soil aggregates and decreases soil infiltration rate. Soil infiltration rate and water depth infiltrated decrease with the increasing of droplets kinetic energy in sprinkler irrigation. This fact enhances the possibility of occurring surface runoff. Several factors used to express sprinkler droplets kinetic energy effects on soil infiltration rate, such as kinetic energy per unit area, kinetic energy flux per unit area, and impact angle, are presented in this paper. Deceasing droplets kinetic energy may increase soil infiltration rate and water depth infiltrated. The techniques that are helpful to decrease droplets kinetic energy include: ① choosing suitable sprinkler and nozzles according to soil texture and structure; ② decreasing water application rate; ③ mulching soil surface; ④ making dikes in field; ⑤ destroying surface crust; ⑥ spraying special chemical materials on soil surface." @default.
