- W2362037222 abstract "This paper deals with five species of Setaria, namely, Setaria equina, S. bernardi,S. digitata, S. labiato-papillosa and S. latilineata sp. nov. found in the peritoneal cavityof horses (mules), cattle, buffalos and pigs from north-eastern and south-westernYunnan. Among these domestic animals, horses (mules) and cattle are most heavilyinfected. No. Setaria found in goats and sheep. The diagnostic characteristics of the new species are as follows: Setaria latilineata Xia, Zhan et Li, sp. nov. Body filiform, milky white in color when living. Cuticle with marked broadtransverse striations, especially concentrated in the anterior region. Head hemisphericin shape, not separated from the rest of the body. The en face view of the head roundin form. Mouth situated in the center, and surrounded by a characteristic peribuccalring. The two lateral lips crescentic in outline and both the dorsal and ventrgl lipscone-like with a blunt end. No notch at the free anterior border of the four lips men-tioned above. The distance between the two lateral lips short, but long between thedorsal and ventral lips. Three female but no male specimens were found from thecattle in Zhaotong. Yunnan. Female: Body 80.800-83.500mm in length and 0.748-0.799 mm in maximumwidth. The anterior muscular portion of the oesophagus measured 0.425--0.484mm inlength, and the posterior glandular portion 5.670--6.514mm. The nerve about 0.221mm to the cephalic end. The vulva 0.301--0.323 mm from the cephalic end. The tail0.425--0.595 mm long. I pair of cone-shaped caudal appendages, 0.034--0.064 mm fromthe extremity. The dorsal and ventral lips 0.100--0.104mm apart, the lateral 1ips 0.034-0.041 mm apart. 8 cone-shaped papillae on the head. The tail terminating in asamll ring-like knob which bears a number of tiny papillae, when viewed from the enface. Host: Chttle. Habitat: Peritoneal cavity. Locality: Zhaotong, Yunnan Province, China. Type specimens: Deposited in the Veterinary Department, Yunnan AgriculturalUniversity. Discussion: By reason of the marked transverse striations, especially concentratedin the anterior region, the new species may easily be distinguished from the knownspecies of the genus Setaria hitherto described. It appears to be closely related to S.bernardi, but in the latter species the striations are very fine and inconspicuous inthe anterior region." @default.
