- W2362038922 abstract "Objective To investigate the biofilm-forming ability and the difference of antibiotic susceptibility between biovar Parvo and T960 of Ureaplasma urealyticum after biofilm developed in vitro. Methods Total 23 strains of U. urealyticum have been tested, which included one U. urealyticum serovar 3, one serovar 8 reference strain and 21 clinical strains collected from female patients with cervicitis. Ureaplasma biovars determination was performed by gene amplification of the multiple-banded antigen(MB-Ag). Scanning electron microscope and confocal laser scanning microscopy were used to analysis the biofilms formation. The biomass of each biofilm was semi-quantified by using a crystal violet staining technique. The broth microdilution susceptibility tests for tetracycline, erythromycin and ciprofloxacin were carried out before and after the biofilm formation. Results Both biovar Parvo and biovar T960 can form the biofilms in vitro with no significant difference in morphology and quantity. The sessile cells in biofilms were more resistant to the 3 antibiotics tested than the planktonic cells before the biofilm developed in these two Ureaplasm biovar groups(P0.05),in which the difference within biovar Parvo was more significant. Conclusion There is no significant difference in mophology and quantity of biofilms formation between the biovar Parvo and T960 of Ureaplasma urealyticum, but both of them developed antibiotic resistance to certain antibiotic after biofilm formation." @default.
