- W2362116817 abstract "The nematic liquid crystal cross-linking agent 4-(ω-acryloyloxy-hexyloxy)-benzoyl-2-tere-butyl)-1,4-bisphenolic (M N) and cholest-5-en-3-01(3B)-4-(2-propenyloxy) benzoate (M C) were grafted to the backbone of polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS). The liquid crystalline properties of the series of liquid crystalline elastomers P 1～P 7 containing different mole radio of the M N from 0～12% were characterized by thermal analysis and cross-polarized microscopic analysis. All the elastomers exhibit cholesteric texture and have broader liquid crystal range over 182*!℃. It is also shown that the t g decreases with increasing mole radio of M N in the polymers. The elastic behavior of the polymers is increased by the sequence of P 4～P 7. Especially, both P 6 and P 7 have no t i. The liquid crystalline behavior disappears until the thermal decomposition temperature as the M N is over 8%. The thermal stability of the polymers are very good up to 289*!℃ with only 5% weight lost." @default.
