- W2362544818 abstract "Anguillotrema papillatum gen. et sp. nov.Halipegidae: Medium-sized fluke, more or less spindle-shaped. Cuticle smooth. Acetabulum larger than oral sucker located at the posterior third of body. Pharynx prominent. Oesophagus short, without diverticulum. Intestinal crura, ending in front of posterior end of body about the level of ovary, not anastomosing.Testes round, symmetrical, just behind acetabulum. Seminal vesicle tubular, coiled, connected with prostatic reservoir which is flask-shaped and surrounded by prostate glands. The distal portion of the prostatic reservoir connected with metraterm to form the hermaphroditic duct in the middle of the conical genital papilla and opens at its tip. All the above organs except the testes are involved in a hermaphroditic bursa which is large, prominent, but weakly muscular and continues anteriorly to form the genital papilla.Ovary rounded, unlobed, located posteriorly in front of vitelline glands and behind testes. Mehlis' gland well developed, situated dorsal to ovary. Seminal recepticle lacking. Vitelline glands in two groups, lobed, lying side by side at the posterior extremity of the body. Uterus densely distributed between acetabulum and hermaphroditic bursa, with many slender loops between testes and ovary, while only a couple of loops behind the latter. Metraterm a slender tube enters hermaphroditic bursa and connects with prostatic duct in the middle of genital papilla to form a short hermaphroditic duct. Genital papilla robust, muscular, protrusible, with the hermaphroditic duct opening at its tip. Genital atrium in the form of a coat pocket situated behind intestinal bifurcation, with its rim lined with transverse musculature. Eggs numerous, elliptical, with a polar filament at each end. At the base of the longer filament there is a group of about 10 short threads which are lacking at the other pole. The uterine eggs are already developed; there is a miracidium within. Host: Anguitta japonica Temminck et Schlegel. Location: Stomach.Locality: Yangtze River, Chiayu County, Hupeh Province. Specimens: Type specimen 1, paratypes 15, collected by Tchang Chien-ying in June, 1964, deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Kweiyang Medical College.Anguillotrema gen. nov.Generic diagnosis: Ealipegidae. Medium-sized fluke, cuticle smooth, muscular. Acetabulum located behind the middle of body. Pharynx muscular. Oesophagus without diverticulum. Intestinal crurae extending near posterior extremity, not anastomosing. Genital atrium behind intestinal bifurcation. There is a large, prominent hermaphroditic bursa containing seminal vesicle, prostatic reservoir and metraterm. The metraterm united with the prostatic duct to form hermaphroditic duct within the genital papilla and opens at its tip. Genital papilla large, conical, protrusible. Testes symmetrical, behind acetabulum. Ovary near posterior extremity. Vitellaria in two groups, lobed, behind ovary. Seminal receptacle absent. Mehlis' glands well developed. Uterine loops between hermaphroditic bursa and vitellaria, never behind the latter. Eggs elliptical, with a polar filament at each end and with short threads at the base of the longer filament. Excretory vesicle appears Y-shaped. Parasitic in Anguitta japonica.Type species: Anguillotrema papillatum Chin et Ku.Altogether 6 species of trematodes of the family Halipegidae have been reported from China, namely: Derogenes various, Genarchopsis chinensis, G. shanghaiensis, Genarches goppo, Chenia cheni and Halipegus occidualis. In 1955 Skrjabin and Gu-schanskaja erected a new genus Tangiopsis for Genarchopsis chinensis. They considered Genarchopsis Ozaki 1925 as a synonum of Genarches Looss 1902 and removed G. shanghaiensis to the latter genus. But Yamaguti (1958) stated that Genarches Looss 1902 was preoccupied. It differs from T. chinensis by the presence of polar filament on the eggs. Since it was progenetic larval forms recovered from the shrimp and neither normal adult form nor its final hosts have as yet been discovered, its generic status remains to be clarified." @default.
