- W2362783502 abstract "Objective To investigate the change of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 levels in serum and its relationship with infection in severe burned patients.Methods All thirty-one patients had burns with a total burn surface area (TBSA) of 30% or more,and three patients died at first day after burn.The serum sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 levels of patients were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)at various time (1,3,5,7,14,21,28 and 35 d after burn) and in the infection group and non-surviving group. 25 healthy cases were looked upon as control group.Results Compared with control group,the levels of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 increased significantly on 3 and 5 days after burn, lasted 35 and 21 days (P0.05～0.01),respectively.The highest levels of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 appeared at 14 th day after burn and had a significant difference from that at first and seventh day (P0.05～0.01).The sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 levels of infection group were significantly higher than that of non-infection group (P0.01～0.05).Compared with control group and first day after burn,the levels of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 were significantly elevated in non-surviving group (P0.01～0.05).Both sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 correlated significantly positively with TBSA and Ⅲ° BSA (P0.01),and sICAM-1 also correlated significantly positively with sVCAM-1(P0.01).Conclusion Burn may predispose to production of soluble adhesion molecule which closely correlated with the severity and the infection." @default.
