- W2362874403 abstract "Based on 1: 10000 river course topographic maps,the grid method could be used to calculate the amount of channel erosion and deposition. But the fact is that different results will be gotten with different grid dimensions. This has not been received much attention. This paper calculates amounts of river channel erosion and deposition in two reaches in the Yangtze River,Zhenjiangge-Wanshouqiao reach and Gulaobei reach,from October 2002 to October 2008. Different grid dimensions were set in the application of the grid method. The relation between grid dimensions and calculation error is discussed on the basis of generalized channel topography. The research shows that the amount of river channel erosion and deposition calculated by the grid method in different grid sizes has big fluctuation when the grid size is large. The amount of river channel erosion and deposition tends to be stable and has tiny fluctuation when the grid size is small. But the minimum calculation error doesn't appear in the small grid size. The calculation error is rather small when the grid dimensions are most close to the section spacing and survey point spacing of underwater topographic survey in the longitudinal and transversal directions,respectively." @default.
